In our youth, we were accustomed to being ordered by our elders to pray... So we would obey the order and then go to pray... We would find prayer difficult... So we would abandon it. We would hear a sheikh speak about prayer and its importance and the punishment for those who abandon it.

We thought that those who commanded us to pray did not feel what we felt.
We thought that those who consistently prayed had a divine gift that we lacked.
We waited for that divine gift for a long time... until we missed one prayer after another.
